Colleoni suit of armours - inv. 2192 2192b 2193 2593
Arms and Armours
This armour is extraordinarily complete and homogeneous. All its parts are burnished, engraved, damascened and gilt with decorated bands alternating with plain ones. The decoration includes grotesque, trophies, dolphins, foliage, volutes and eight-pointed stars. The ornaments are in French style, but the type of workmanship reveals the Milanese origin of the armour. According to tradition, it belonged to the famous Colleoni family of Bergamo, and Guardino di Febo Colleoni probably owned it.
