Vittore Ghislandi called Fra Galgario (circle of) - inv. 196
Despite the boy’s intense gaze, the painting reveals a certain rigidity in its execution, visible in the folds of the simple jacket, fastened with a single button over a white shirt. Previously attributed to Fra’ Galgario, the painting was most probably by someone very close to the friar’s workshop. Contemporary sources note a remarkable number of followers and pupils, whose work still has to be precisely catalogued.
